This course has been written to introduce the basics of online safety and although written from the context of a school, the information will be useful to parents, carers and any professional working with children. This session will examine a number of key areas such as defining online safety from the context of school and home, the 3 C’s of online risk – content, contact, conduct and the 3 main online activities of children and young people which are gaming, YouTube and other social media. On completion of this course you will have a good understanding of the basics and most important principles of online safety, specifically:

1. Understanding what online safety means in school and at home.

2. Identify the 3 categories of risk, what these are and examples of some of the risk areas.
